Koehn Construction promises only best products, including doors from Schweiss
Builder remains loyal to door manufacturer for its ag building customers
FAIRFAX, Minn., October 3, 2016 – Koehn Construction Services of Fredonia, Kan., believes its loyalty to the suppliers with the best products breeds loyalty from their customers looking for the best buildings. When it comes to doors on the many large agricultural buildings Koehn has erected, Schweiss Doors is the only choice.

“Ag buildings is where we started,” says Lyle Koehn, owner-general manager of Koehn Construction Services. “They compromise 40-50 percent of our business. All our building projects are custom in nature and unique to each customer. One of our farm shops here is a 100-foot by 300-foot facility, 20 feet tall. Farm shops in the 80-foot to 100-foot range are probably the most common sizes we build.”

On the Koehn website, it says, “We will not compromise the building integrity for the dubious ‘honor’ of having the cheapest building package available. We are confident that we provide the best value for your dollar, every time.”

The roots of Koehn Construction date back to 2003. Schweiss Doors has been a regular supplier ever since.

“We are also doing lots of commercial manufacturing projects,” Koehn says. “Most here seem to prefer hydraulic doors … they understand hydraulics and how that works. We also prefer the hydraulic one-piece doors. The main reason is simplicity. They are a little more expensive than a bifold door but they have less moving parts. Most of the doors we do are 40 to 50 feet wide and 16-18 feet tall.

“We’ve been using Schweiss Doors for about eight years now and haven’t used any other manufacturer’s door. Most of the hydraulic doors we put in are on farm buildings. After we put in our first Schweiss door, we knew it was a quality product and we’ve stayed with them ever since. Our customers are very happy with how they work. We also do the installs, which are fairly easy. We don’t sell or install any sliding doors. Schweiss doors are very good quality doors, heavy and well built. There’s no door out there that is as heavy as a Schweiss door. Everybody else uses lighter gauge materials.”

Schweiss Doors is the premier manufacturer of hydraulic and bifold liftstrap doors. Doors are custom made to any size for any type of new or existing building for architects and builders determined to do amazing things with their buildings, including the doors. Schweiss also offers a cable to liftstrap conversion package. For more information, visit www.bifold.com.

Koehn Construction offers may services, including in-house design as well as additional out-sourced design. Services include site preparation, erection, foundation, construction and millwright work. All overhead door installation, interior finishing, electrical work, plumbing and HVAC system work is outsourced to long-term service providers that Koehn has built relationships with. Kansas and Missouri have farmland that stretches for miles. These big fields require big machinery to bring in the crop and big farm shops to store equipment. This steel structure has about a 50-foot by x 18-foot Schweiss hydraulic door on it.

Koehn Construction Services steel buildings are typically 80 to 100 feet long. This one with a Schweiss hydraulic door at each end is 100 feet by 300 feet by 20 feet. You don’t see them much larger than this.

Most of the Schweiss hydraulic farm doors that Koehn Construction Services sells are in the 40 to 50-foot width and 16 to 18 feet tall range. Windows within the Schweiss hydraulic doors allow for natural light to enter the building and give the operator something to look out when opening their doors.
